An '02 Chevy Duramax doesn't seem like it's all that old, but when you stop and think about it, the truck was made nearly a decade ago. The warranty is up and maybe the thrill is gone, too. Not to worry. With the addition of a speed part or two you can bring some magic back into the venerable Duramax engine. We hooked up an Edge Juice with Attitude system to this '02 Chevy and the results were quite impressive.
It's an easy install and takes almost no technical knowledge But it's also easy to use the Juice with Attitude. There are six on-the-fly adjustable power levels, maxing out at a 125hp and 325-lb-ft increase (unless you opt for the Hot Unlock code at an additional fee, in which case you'll see even more power). In addition, you should see an improvement in fuel mileage, driveability, and towing performance.
Parts included in the kit...
Parts included in the kit include the Juice module, wire harness, Attitude monitor, and EGT thermocouple connections.
The system from Edge is completely plug-and-play except for light drilling for an EGT fitting and sensor that must be made in the exhaust manifold. In fact, running the monitor wires through the firewall was effortless, although it looked a little intimidating at first.
We won't bore you with all the details, but in the end it did bring back the performance we saw when the truck was new. With the Juice with Attitude installed, we just started the vehicle and then picked the program settings.
Now with that done, we just might spend a few dollars on a good wax job and keep our old diesel for a few more years!
