California's Central Coast
Surrounded by endless acres of undisturbed wilderness, rolling coastal hills, and secluded beaches, Costanoa is an eco-resort that has spaces for RVs and accommodations starting with tent camping all the way to luxury suites. It is the kind of place that lets visitors disconnect from civilization.
From Costanoa base camp you can explore the extraordinarily dramatic California central coast and experience nature in its purest form. Connected to four state parks, 30,000 acres of hiking trails, and a vibrant wildlife reserve, Costanoa offers the unique opportunity to experience outdoor living in comfortable, stylish surroundings. Located along the pristine coastline on California's famous Highway 1, the resort is near San Francisco (55 miles), Santa Cruz (25 miles), San Jose (45 miles), and Half Moon Bay (25 miles).
The Costanoa lodge and camp overlooks a spectacular stretch of rugged bluffs and secluded panoramic beaches. The facilities are about a 15-minute walk (1 mile) from the two closest beaches and less than a 5-minute drive from other accessible beaches.
Just moments to the south lies Año Nuevo, the nation's largest elephant seal rookery. To the east stand the majestic redwoods of Big Basin State Park. To the north the lighthouse at Pigeon Point towers gracefully over fields of pumpkins, artichokes, and wild berries.
The area enjoys an unusually temperate climate, nestled in the middle of a "banana belt" between Año Nuevo and Pigeon Point Lighthouse. Longtime residents and generations of farmers say that they enjoy 30 to 40 more days of sunshine per year here than at points north and south. With the ocean and air at about the same temperature year-round, flora and fauna thrive in the area. In the springtime, morning fog is the rule, while actual rain is infrequent.
The local residents-whales, elephant seals, and sea birds of all kinds-can be seen during hiking and biking excursions. Explore the local tide pools and coastal dunes or take advantage of onsite horseback riding, kayaking, and windsurfing.
Costanoa also features a general store stocked with a variety of local wines, handmade jewelry, local goat cheese, books and more.
