To spotlight just a few options, we researched RV destinations in the Sunbelt states, contacting the management to ask about local weather and current conditions. We also looked at RV rating services, confining our choices for this report to those rated four or five stars. We tried to include something for everyone: pure luxury camping and rustic family RV destinations, as well as the newest RV facilities rich in activities and amenities. Rates range from $20 a night to over $45 a night and, as usual, vary by season and length of stay. We've included web addresses so you can check these out on your own.

The Gulf Life
The Mississippi Gulf Coast, hit hard by Hurricane Katrina, has recovered, and it still features the mild climate and ocean access that attracted so many in the first place. One of the best spots in the area is the Majestic Oaks RV Resort, a newly built park less than a mile from the beaches and casinos of the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast. Visitors will find long pull-through sites; concrete streets, pads, and patios; beautiful landscaping; and magnificent centuries-old Oak trees.

Onsite amenities include free DirecTV, free Wi-Fi, a fully equipped bathhouse, a clean laundry facility, an outdoor pool, and a convenience store for snacks, gifts, and supplies. Daily, weekly, and monthly rates are competitive. All sites have water, sewer, and 30- or 50-amp electrical connections.

The resort is centrally located near shopping, world-class entertainment, championship golf, fine dining, casinos, theaters, watersports, and all that the Mississippi Gulf Coast has to offer. This pet-friendly resort also has an onsite propane station and a dump station.
