Suwannee River Hideaway
Central Florida's Gulf Coast is appropriately known as the Nature Coast, home to an abundance of wildlife. It's a region readily enjoyed from the Suwannee River Hideaway Campground, located on the Suwannee River. Hideaway guests have access to a 1,500-foot boardwalk through the wetlands to the river to explore an amazing variety of plants, trees, and wildlife. There are numerous freshwater springs along the river, and the Gulf Coast is a 20-minute drive. You can enjoy fresh or saltwater fishing in the area. The area is known for hunting, boating, hiking, biking, bird watching, scuba diving, and fresh and saltwater fishing.
The campground is located in a private area about three miles from Highway 19/98/27 in Old Town. The Suwannee River Hideaway offers primitive tent camping sites as well as RV sites with 30- and 50-amp hookups. Check in at the 1920s General Store and then enjoy the conveniences of the campground, including a laundry facility and a bathhouse. Some pull-through sites are available. A free wireless hotspot is located at office and clubhouse. There is a new clubhouse for functions and large groups with a full kitchen, bathrooms, and a fireplace.
The campground closes each year for general maintenance and improvements, and they close the gate at dusk. Visitors are advised to call ahead for office hours, as they fluctuate with the seasons.
